- When first faced with corruption allegations, Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu used to dismissively, even smugly, insist
that “there there will be nothing because there is nothing.”
Of late, his tone has dramatically changed. But the arguments
he’s been advancing in recent weeks are not necessarily
more pertinent than his previous mantra of total innocence, legal

- Associates of Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit assail
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying his attacks will harm
all Israelis. “The messaging against the attorney general’s
office and him [Mandelblit] is ordered from above,” the
associates are quoted as saying by Hadashot news. “The prime
minister is dragging the whole country down with him. It is sad
and it will harm all of us.”
AG to meet Netanyahu’s lawyer on request not to publish
decision on indictment Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit summons
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attorney for a meeting next
week on the latter’s request not to publish a decision on
whether to indict the premier in the three corruption cases against
him before the April 9 elections, according to a statement from
Mandelblit’s office.
- The attorney, Navot Tel-Zur, this week filed the request,
arguing that a decision to charge Netanyahu pending a hearing
— a process that would definitely take at least several
months — would affect the election outcome with Netanyahu

- Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has ordered investigators
to collect additional testimony from witnesses in a corruption
case involving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hadashot TV
news reported Thursday. The investigation, known as Case 4000,
involves suspicions Netanyahu advanced regulation benefiting
Bezeq controlling shareholder Shaul Elovitch in exchange for
flattering coverage from the telecom firm’s Walla news site.
Police have recommended both men be charged in the case.

According to Hadashot, a number of Walla employees have been
summoned to provide further testimony, including senior figures
at the news site and others who haven’t previously given

- TEHRAN (AP) — The head of Iran’s nuclear program
said Sunday that the Islamic Republic has begun “preliminary
activities for designing” a modern process for 20-percent
uranium enrichment for its 50-year-old research reactor in Tehran,
signaling new danger for the nuclear deal. Restarting enrichment
at that level would mean Iran had withdrawn from the 2015 nuclear
deal it struck with world powers, an accord that US President
Donald Trump already pulled America out of in May.

Really strange things are starting to happen all over the world.
We’ll talk about “the North Pole’s sudden shift”
later in this article, but first I want to focus on the very
unusual event which just took place in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. A
“massive swarm” of thousands upon thousands of black
locusts descended upon the holiest site in Islam, and video of
this “plague” is understandably causing quite a stir
all over social media. The following comes from the Times Of
Israel…
- A massive swarm of locusts plagued Mecca, Saudi Arabia, earlier
this week, prompting authorities at Islam’s holiest site
to launch a cleaning operation to remove them. Videos posted
to social media showed the insects swarming around cleaners and
worshipers in the city’s Grand Mosque, where millions of
Muslim pilgrims congregate every year. And this was not just
a temporary phenomenon. Once the locusts arrived, they didn’t
want to leave, and it is being reported that they were “covering
the walls of the mosque”… A closer-up view shows them
swarming in all directions, over the heads of the cleaners in
green uniforms attempting to deal with them. Another shot shows
the insects covering the walls of the mosque as they swarmed
across the site. According to Saudi authorities, it took 22 teams
consisting of a total of 138 people to clean up the infestation.

- After weeks of refusing to give interviews or make public
statements, former IDF chief of staff Benny Gantz, the chairman
of the new Israel Resilience party, offered on Monday a glimpse
of his largely unknown political views, breaking his silence
with a vow to “fix” the controversial nation-state
law to help the Druze community. Speaking to Druze activists
who congregated outside his home in Rosh Ha’ayin to say
that the law is discriminatory toward the country’s non-Jews,
Gantz said that Israel should work to strengthen bonds with its
Druze community, which he said was a valued segment of Israeli
society.
“I will do everything in my power to act to fix the law,”
he said to the activists, who had visited his house as part of
a nationwide tour meant to raise awareness of Druze opposition
to the law ahead of a High Court hearing on the legislation later
this month. The nation-state law enshrines Israel as “the
national home of the Jewish people” and says “the right
to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel
is unique to the Jewish people.” It also defines Arabic
as a language with a “special” status, effectively
downgrading it from its de facto status as a second official
language, though it cryptically stipulates that “this clause
does not harm the status given to the Arabic language before
this law came into effect.”

- The Sanhedrin is minting a commemorative coin in recognition
of Nikki Haley’s exemplary service as the 29th U.S. Ambassador
to the United Nations. Haley tendered her resignation in October
effective at the end of 2018.The Sanhedrin issued the commemorative
coin in conjunction with an invitation for Haley to serve as
the honorary president of a Biblically mandated organization
of 70 Nations.
- The face of the coin has an image of Haley superimposed on
an image of the United Nations General Assembly building in New
York City with the flag of Israel prominently displayed next
to the U.S. flag. Also on the face of the coin are the words
“Seventy Nations Organization Jerusalem” in Hebrew
and English displayed over an image of the seven-branched Menorah
that once stood in each of the Jewish Temples in Jerusalem.
The opposite side of the coin features a stylized image of the
Jewish Temple, an image of the silver half-shekel as it appeared
in Temple times, and an image of the stone altar. In the center
are the words “The Temple Coin” in Hebrew, English
and Arabic. Around the edge is written “The Sanhedrin court”
in English and Hebrew, as well as the Hebrew “Dedication
of the altar, half-shekel, 5779 (the Hebrew year). The altar
appears because last month, during the holiday of Hanukkah, the
Sanhedrin dedicated an altar to be used in the Third Temple.
The Sanhedrin’s announcement of the commemorative coin explained

- FORMER USAID OFFICIAL AGENCY TO END ALL PALISTINIAN PROJECTS

2019 - The U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID,
is ending all projects in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Jan.
31 following the decision to cut funding to the Palestinians,
according to a former USAID official. Dave Harden, who recently
served as a USAID minister counselor and as an assistant administrator
during the Obama administration, expressed his concerns over
the move saying it "demonstrates again a lack of nuance,
sophistication, and appreciation for the complexity of the situation,
according to the Jerusalem Post.
- "Who suffers when USAID leaves schools and water systems
unfinished? Palestinians, of course, but also Israelis and Americans.
The administration just gave Hamas more running room," he
added. Harden founded and became the managing director of the
Georgetown Strategy Group following his time at USAID. He also
tweeted Thursday about the halting of the USAID projects in the
West Bank and Gaza Strip, saying it was "another example
of the end of the two-state solution."
